My name is Aidan. I am a Senior at Homestead High School. This was originally a project that was my 5th grade milestone through my church in Wisconsin. Our goal was to participate in a hands on community service project. Instead I decided to start my own to make a difference. 7 years ago, I volunteered with my Mom and sister at a food pantry that also sold clothes. We were really surprised when we were told that socks were the most popular item at a food pantry in the clothing section. I never even thought about needing a pair of socks before. Every time I needed socks my Mom would just go to the store and get me a pair. What a different world.
So, remembering my experience at the pantry, my Dad and I sat down and looked for stories in the Bible to help us understand this. We came to Luke 7:36-50 and for me, everything changed.
I learned that Jesus was treated unfairly by someone at dinner that looked down on others. But, a sinful woman with great faith came with a alabaster jar filled with very expensive perfume and ointments. With those liquids, she rubbed Jesus' feet and the woman dried his feet with her own hair. I think this was very important for my idea. Here was a simple woman that took time to clean Jesus' feet and make Him feel comfortable when others did not. Today, I know we can also comfort feet in need.
